INTRODUCTION
PURPOSE
The Rifle, Sniper, 7.62 mm, C3A1, provides specially trained personnel of the Canadian Armed Forces, with the capability to effectively perform the tasks of a sniper, for combat and internal security operations. This rifle is also used by Armed Forces personnel in advanced regional, national, sniper competition.
DESCRIPTION
The Rifle, Sniper, 7.62 mm, C3A1 is a heavy barrel, single shot, manually operated, bolt action, magazine fed weapon with a five shot capacity. It is provided with a thumb actuated safety lever that interlocks the bolt, trigger and sear when applied.
The C3A1 Sniper System is comprised of a Parker Hale Model 87 rifle, fitted with a heavy barrel and matched to an Unertl C3 telescopic sight.
