MACHINE GUN C9 and C9A1 5.56mm
They are capable of fully automatic fire only and are normally fired from the prone position. The C9A1 LMG may be equipped with the C79 Optical Sight. This Belgian designed weapon replaced the FN C2 light automatic rifle as the infantry section fire support weapon. The gas
operated weapon fires the NATO 5.56 mm round, in common with the C7 rifle and C8 carbine. It features a folding bipod, a
quick change barrel and an Elcan Optical sight. It is issued on the bases of two per infantry section.
