The general purpose machine gun 7.62 mm, C6 is a combat arms platoon and company level support weapon. It may be mounted on a tripod or on various vehicles. It is a development of the Fabrique Nationa1 Hersta1 S.A., MAG 58 with minor modifications to suit the needs of the Canadian Forces. Four configurations can be used in the following roles:
  • Flexible - It is designed for use in the ground support role
  • Anti-Aircraft - Mounted on the exterior of the Leopard MBT
  • ARV - Mounted internally on the Armoured Recovery Vehicle (ARV)
  • C0-Axially - Mounted co-axially with the main armament of the Leopard MBT
