Adapter Sub-Calibre 6.5mm L1A2 (Old Type)
The adapter, sub-calibre 6.5mm is a practice weapon designed to be loaded into the 84 mm Carl Gustav Anti-Tank L14A1, in the same way as the normal full calibre round. The loading and firing operations are essentially the same as when operating the parent gun. The adapter consists principally of a casing, the barrel and firing mechanism. The casing is similar in shape to the full calibre round. The rim at the base is made of brass and is identical to the rim of the full calibre round. The barrel has a rifled bore with a chamber. The muzzle end is threaded to receive a brass ferrule to prevent damage to the parent gun when the adapter is inserted and removed. The percussion type firing mechanism is assembled in the base of the casing and must be manually cocked before it can withdrawn or assembled in the casing. Two types of cartridges are available for use; a 6.5mm practice with tracer for use on outdoor ranges and a 6.5mm practice with out tracer for use on an indoor range.- Weight of adapter: 3.86 kg (8.5 lb)

The charge is reduced so that the ballistics are similar to those of the original projectile. The Cartridge 6.5 mm without tracer is used on indoor or miniature ranges. It has an effective range of 8 to 15 m and a maximum range of 200 m.
